Business Card Updated
Here is an updated version of my business card. I decided to invert the shades of blue to give it more of a punch on the back of the card.
South Park Print Booklet Layout
I chose to do my informational booklet on South Park because I enjoy watching the show and making a booklet would be a blast. Adobe Illustrator was used for the Illustrations and InDesign was used for the layout.

KYLE VECTOR ILLUSTRATION/Partial Tutorial
It took me some time to find the right picture to use for this illustration. When I found the one I wanted to use I realized that it was took dark. I thought it would be a long shot to take it into photoshop and try to get it right but with a lot of experimentation and tweaking I got the picture to look realistic and a great tone. I am aware that the coat is over exposed however I was really going for getting the face to look it's best.
I get a fair amount of compliments and questions after each piece of artwork is completed. People often ask me how I accomplish these illustrations with such detail and a certain style. As I tell anyone who asks... It's all about layers.. drawing certain parts of the face and hiding them. Layers upon layers building up into the final product. Never get discouraged if its not turning out the way you want it to. Its going to look a bit odd until it is completed. Don't let it stop you. I find it easiest to start with the basic outline of the face and build up. Once you finish the basic shape of the face, draw the darks, midtones, and highlights. Then go for one of the eyes and focus on that, then the other, on to the lips, hair, and part of the body. Afterwards I always unlock all of the layers and make sure to adjust opacities and tones to make everything look the way I want it to. At the very end I add a background colour that will compliment a certain colour on the person being illustrated... usually the person's shirt. In this case Kyle was wearing an orange shirt so I chose the complimentary colour blue.

Parallax Scrolling Assignment- Spongebob
I decided to do spongebob for my parallax scrolling assignment.
Everything shown in the scene I vectored and animated. I found a jelly fishing song I was not even aware of on youtube and used adobe Soundbooth to cut it to the appropriate length and add a fade in/out. I used the camera method in Adobe After Effects to truck into the scene and orbit slightly. The Jelly Fish are animated separately on various Z-axis' moving towards the left. Spongebob's arm's anchor-point was changed so that I could animate his arm slowly rotating to the right in order to catch the jelly fish (which he never seems to catch) :)
There was a lot of effort and careful consideration put into this project and I am quite content with the results.
Thanks for taking a look
:) Gabby

Magazine Layouts. Double Page Spreads
This is the first layout double spread layout I created. I chose to do rubber chickens again because rubber chickens are a classic comedy prop and is a symbol of laughter and happiness.
This particular photo was taken by me in second semester photography class. The content was reworded from the web http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-rubber-chicken.htm
This is the second layout I created. I used a high resolution photograph I found on google images. www.phototravelpages.com
I separated the columns by introduction, Ladies Night, Guys Night, and Couples Night. This layout is about Toronto Nightlife. The content was retrieved from toronto.com

Banner is Up!
With all my hardwork and fun times my UNV banner is up and running on the website. http://www.unv.org.ph/ Some changes with colour and placement by request of the project manager was accomplished. Red and blue were switched and some other minor adjustments were made.
The Main Problem
The main problem was maintaining file size while keeping quality high enough and having many pictures present in the banner to simulate a banner/slideshow.
The Solution
Photoshop's save for web and devices feature was used to bring down the file size along with pre image resizing and ppi adjustments. The banner was carefully thought out. How many pictures would be used to convey their message and the break down of how many kb each image should be at the most to maintain quality and stay within the given limits. After planning, sizing and saving the images were ready to be imported into flash and used as either movie clips or graphics so that they could be used to classic tween. Since my as3 skills are still being developed, I felt much more comfortable using my classical previous knowledge of manually tweening and placement to complete this banner more efficiently. Making the deadline was very important for me to show my dedication and values. The deadlines were made, revisions were made. I have also been asked to make changes once they take more pictures in the future.
I am very happy with this project and I hope to be able to continue my work with this organization.

UN Volunteer Philippines Flash Banner
This is a flash banner that will be used for the UNV Philippines Website to promote awareness and encourage citizens to become a volunteer to work towards the UN's Millennium Development Goals. The idea was to create something like a slide show. I decided to incorporate icons that listed the 8 MDG's. My biggest challenge was keeping quality looking high and file size low. Using Photoshop save for web and devices helped optimize the photos, also the use of allow smoothing in Flash. This is the second draft. I am pleased with it and enjoyed creating it very much. Thanks again to the UN for this opportunity!

This is my awesome door
This door was created for my video class assignment. This assignment had use of green screen. I will post the video within the next day or so, so I do not want to give away the surprise. Lets just say for now that this door was thought out and made to match certain circumstances within my video project. I based it off the door being used in the video and used illustrator for everything but the overlay of woodgrain.. which was photoshop. I am very pleased with it. I would have to say the curtains took the most time but are one of the more important aspects because of the fine attention to detail. :)

Panthers in 3D
I used the illustrator logo I created in first semester to turn into a 3d object using 3d Studio Max. I learned how to import an illustrator file into mac, set it up, detach splines, fix vertices, and bevel to create a 3d version I will soon animate for the next project!
NHL logo and particle systems- 3Dstudio Max
This was an in class lab on how to construct a 3d version of the NHL logo and use particle systems in 3d Studio Max to simulate pucks deflecting off the logo and the background. Camera and lighting effects were also used. The logo was constructed in 3d max and beveled accordingly.
It was a fun assignment and I enjoyed learning how to use basic functions in 3d studio max!

Other Option
So I was thinking to myself... "A business card has to make sense.. A business card basically has to be an extension of your website/blog." SOOOOO therefore I changed around some of the colours since my blog is purple and I would rather be working with a purple concept than an orange and blue concept. I am still pondering. :)
